How does cookie monitoring work?
CookieOfficer scans the website again and again on a schedule. After every scan it refreshes the results and the project's compliance state, so you can review what it found in the panel.
The scan starts on its own
CookieOfficer scans the website on the schedule that comes with your plan. You do not have to start it yourself each time.
Cookies and tracking technologies are analysed
The scanner checks the website before consent is given, after it is accepted and after it is refused. It identifies the cookies and tracking technologies in use, along with any problems in the way they behave.
Results and compliance state are refreshed
When the scan finishes, the new results replace the previous ones and CookieOfficer reviews the project's compliance state again. You will find everything up to date in the panel.
What does cookie monitoring check?
CookieOfficer looks at how consent is handled and at the cookies the website uses. From the scan results it points out problems that may need checking or a change in the setup.
Cookie banner published
Checks whether the cookie banner has been published and is present on the website.
Cookie banner active
Checks whether the cookie banner is switched on and can be shown to visitors.
Cookies set despite a refusal
Detects cookies set on the visitor's device even though consent was refused.
Uncategorised cookies
Identifies cookies that have not been assigned to a category.
Another consent banner present
Detects a second consent banner on the website that could clash with your CookieOfficer setup.
How often does CookieOfficer scan a website?
How often the scan runs depends on the CookieOfficer plan you choose. The website is analysed again and again, and after every scan the results and the project's compliance state are refreshed.
How to use the monitoring results
After every scan CookieOfficer refreshes the project's compliance state, which you can see in the panel and in your portfolio. That tells you whether anything was found that needs a closer look.
The monitoring results help you decide which parts of the setup are worth checking and whether the cookie banner or the way tracking technologies are handled needs changing.
Cookie scanner
Run a one-off analysis of the website to see the cookies and tracking technologies in use and anything that looks wrong. The scanner also lets you download the results as a PDF.

Decide how consent is collected. Set the consent model, the categories and the script blocking rules to make the banner work the way your website needs.

CookieOfficer monitoring means scanning the website automatically, over and over on a schedule. It analyses the cookies and tracking technologies in use, and after every scan it refreshes the results and the project's compliance state. Everything is available in the CookieOfficer panel.
It depends on the CookieOfficer plan. On Free the website is analysed every 30 days, on Basic every 14 days and on Pro every 7 days. Enterprise includes a scan every day.
Among other things, CookieOfficer finds a cookie banner that has not been published or has been switched off, cookies set despite a refusal, uncategorised cookies and a second consent banner on the website. Whatever it finds is reflected in the project's compliance state.
The latest scan results are in the CookieOfficer panel. The project's compliance state is also shown in your portfolio. After each scan the information is refreshed and the previous results are replaced.
The cookie scanner runs a one-off analysis of a website to identify cookies, tracking technologies and anything that looks wrong. Monitoring uses the same machinery, but runs the scan again and again at intervals set by your CookieOfficer plan and refreshes the project's compliance state.
