How does the cookie consent log work?
CookieOfficer records what visitors decide about cookies on its own. Every entry holds enough detail to establish which preferences were chosen, and in what circumstances.
The visitor chooses
Someone visiting the website accepts, refuses or picks cookie categories themselves on the CookieOfficer banner.
The decision goes into the log
The decision is recorded together with a consent ID, the date, the categories chosen and the rest of the detail about how it was given.
You can retrieve the record
Find a particular decision in the log, look at the preferences recorded and download proof of that one consent as a PDF.
What does the consent log record?
Every decision a visitor makes about cookies is recorded, along with the preferences chosen and the circumstances in which it was made. You can see what a particular consent covered, when it was given and which settings applied at that moment.
The decision and the preferences
The log records the kind of decision - accepted, refused or a custom choice - and whether consent was given for each cookie category.
Date, version and validity
Every entry carries the date and time of the decision, the consent version in force and how long it stays valid. Where it matters, the time the decision was delivered is recorded separately.
The context of the consent
The language of the banner shown, the country code that decided which geographic variant applied and details identifying the visitor's browser are all recorded.
Identifying the entry
Every decision gets a unique identifier. The log also keeps a masked IP address and the domain and host the entry came from.
How do you use the consent log?
In the CookieOfficer panel you can browse the decisions that have been recorded, find individual entries and download documentation for the consent given. Everything in the log stays available long after the visit itself has ended.
Searching and filtering
Find a particular decision by consent ID or by domain. You can also filter the entries by the kind of event.
Proof of consent as a PDF
Download a document for a single decision, with the consent ID and the preferences recorded, category by category.
CSV export of the log
Download the whole consent log as a CSV to keep a summary of the decisions recorded or to analyse them further. Available from the Basic plan.
Keep a record of every consent
CookieOfficer uses checksums to detect any tampering with the entries in the log. Each decision is tied to the one before it, so unauthorised changes to the stored data can be identified.
How long consent is kept depends on your plan: from 3 months on Free to 60 months on Enterprise.
Cookie banner
Collect visitors' decisions with a cookie banner you can configure. Match its look, its wording and its consent model to your website.

The CookieOfficer consent log records, on its own, every decision a visitor makes on the banner. It covers acceptance just as much as refusal or a custom choice of cookie categories. Each decision gets a unique identifier, so a particular entry can be found later.
Among other things, the log stores the kind of decision, the preferences chosen for each cookie category, the date and time, the consent version and how long it stays valid. It also holds the banner language, the country, the browser, the domain and host, and a masked IP address.
In CookieOfficer you can browse the decisions recorded, search for entries by consent ID or by domain and filter them by the kind of event. That lets you find particular records and see the preferences captured at the moment the decision was made.
Yes. CookieOfficer lets you download a single entry as a PDF. The document carries the consent ID and the visitor's preferences, split into the categories that were required, accepted and refused. You can also export the whole log to a CSV file - that is available from the Basic plan.
It depends on your plan: 3 months on Free, 12 months on Basic, 36 months on Pro and 60 months on Enterprise. You can pick the plan that matches how long you need the records.
