Cookie banner texts

You edit the cookie banner texts in the CookieOfficer panel in two places. The first is the cookie banner editor. The second is the “Languages & geo rules” page. Both places give you access to the same fields. On the “Languages & geo rules” page you can also change the texts in the other languages.

Two screens of the cookie banner

The cookie banner consists of two screens, and the texts on them are independent of each other.

Main screen, that is, the cookie banner itself: heading, description and button labels. Below the description you'll find a separate field for the privacy policy address. Enter it right there, and not in the description text.

Preferences screen, which the visitor opens to choose cookie categories: heading, description, button labels, and category names and descriptions.

Each screen has its own button labels. If you want to change a label on both, enter it separately on each.

Length limits

• Headings and button labels: 200 characters.
• Cookie banner description and preferences screen description: 2,000 characters.
• Cookie category names: 200 characters, category descriptions: 2,000 characters.

What happens when you delete all the content from a field

If you delete all the content from a given field and publish the change, the field won't stay empty. The cookie banner will then show the default content according to two rules:

1. If default content exists in the same language, the content in that language comes back.
2. If it doesn't, the English label comes back, for example “Accept”.

For example: if the default language of the cookie banner is Polish, deleting the Polish heading brings back the default Polish heading.

Publishing changes

You confirm changes with the “Publish changes” button. They reach visitors' browsers within about five minutes, because the configuration is cached for that time.
