Getting started

How do I enter a domain in the panel?

Learn the rules for how a domain address is saved and how they affect the banner and your visitors' consents.

Regardless of the form in which you enter the domain, our system automatically simplifies the address you entered and saves only the host name.

The rule is simple, but it affects which addresses the banner will appear on. Here are the rules this mechanism follows.

How do we tidy up the data in the panel?

Entered addressSaved domain
https://yourcompany.comyourcompany.com
yourcompany.com/contact?utm=xyourcompany.com
YourCompany.comyourcompany.com, uppercase letters are changed to lowercase
www.yourcompany.comyourcompany.com, with no www prefix

What won't you see in the panel?

  • The protocol (http or https)
  • The www prefix
  • The path, for example /contact
  • The query parameter, for example ?utm=x
  • The port number

What does this mean?

  1. www.yourcompany.com and yourcompany.com are one (the same) host to us. The banner will appear on both versions of the site.
  2. A visitor's consent status is saved separately for each host. The information about a visitor's consent status, that is the co_consent cookie, is stored separately for each unique host name.
  3. The status of consent given by a visitor on the main domain isn't automatically carried over to subdomains. To allow the consent status to be passed between subdomains, turn on Consent sharing across the group in the project settings.
