How do I add a new domain?
A comparison of two ways of adding new domains: as an additional domain in an existing project, or as a separate project.
You can add a new domain in two ways. The choice depends on whether you want it to share its configuration with an existing project or to have its own settings (e.g. a different banner). Below you'll find a comparison of both options and step-by-step instructions.
Which path should you choose?
| New domain in an existing project | New project | |
|---|---|---|
| Banner and texts | The same | Separate |
| Project ID | The same | Separate |
| Configuration | The same | Separate |
| Consent shared across domains | Can be set up | Not available |
| Statistics and Consent Log | Shared | Separate |
Add domains to an existing project when:
- you are adding a subdomain, for example
shop.yourcompany.com, - you have a dedicated domain for another language version, e.g.
yourcompany.de, - you want the banner to look the same.
Create a new project when:
- you are setting up the tool on another brand's site, you want different banner texts or a different range of categories,
- you are serving another client, and separate statistics make billing easier.
How do I add a domain to an existing project?
- Choose the project in the panel, go to the “Domains” page and click “Add domain”.
- Enter the host name, for example
shop.yourcompany.com, and confirm. - If you don't want visitors to have to respond to the banner on each domain separately, turn on consent sharing across the domain group.

Important:
- The code on your site stays the same, with the same project ID.
- We don't generate a second piece of code.
How do I create a new project?
- In the panel, click the “New project” button.
- Enter the main domain, for example
otherbrand.com, and confirm. - The project will get its own project ID, and the first scan will start automatically.

Important rules
- Add subdomains separately. Add every subdomain, for example
blog.yourcompany.com, as an additional domain. Otherwise the code on the site will stay inactive and won't show the banner. - Without consent sharing turned on, a visitor will see the banner again after entering a subdomain.
What mistakes should you avoid?
- Don't create a new project for a subdomain. This splits the statistics and the Consent Log, and requires setting up a second piece of code.
- Don't add a new domain within one project for a different brand. It will inherit the banner and content of the first brand.
